It shall be used as a means for aiding production through an advising and support system that encompasses the artistic, financial, and technical aspects of theater.

Unbound

Unbound is Vassar College's only organization devoted specifically to political action through theater to bring to the fore themes and issues that we consider to be relevant to our community and the greater community of the nation and the world. Often, we work in conjunction with other Vassar and community organizations. In the past, we have sponsored student-produced spoken word events, full-length plays, one-act plays, performance projects, staged readings, comedy shows, and open-mic events. We utilize both traditional and nontraditional theatrical spaces.

Woodshed

The Woodshed Theater Ensemble is a small collaborative theater group that functions as a collective. Each decision in the theatrical process is made by the totality of the group. The group strives to constantly improve its process in the effort to create a working mutual dialogue between its members. Woodshed has performed classic and contemporary pieces including Maria Irene Fornes' Mud , Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and Griselda Gambaro's Antígona Furiosa as well as plays by Jean Genet, Tom Stoppard and Sam Shepard.

The group shall provide the Vassar community with at least two performances or happenings per semester, performance space pending. Membership to HEL is by audition. Auditions to HEL will be held on a need-only basis. Prospective members will be judged on the quality of written material, performance in improvisation games, and a short, meaningful discussion with the current members of the group.
